UCT and UP top global rankings for accounting and finance

The University of Cape Town and the University of Pretoria have been declared the top tertiary institutions in South Africa for the study of accounting and finance.

This is according to the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings.

The rankings assess universities based on their performance in specific subject areas in comparison to international competitors and focus on academic reputation and research output.

Havard University was ranked as the best University for accounting and finance globally.

The ranking is an independent comparative analysis of over 16,000 university programmes at 1,500 universities in 95 countries and territories across 55 academic subjects.

SA students join global Aerospace challenge

8 South African learners have earned a place to visit NASA after excelling in the South African Space Design Competition finals.

The finalists were selected from more than 100 participants, who competed at the University of Cape Town, where teams were tasked with designing a lunar city under pressure.

The group will now represent South Africa at the International Space Settlement Design Competition at Kennedy Space Center in July, where they will collaborate with students from across the world on complex aerospace challenges.

Organisers say the learners were chosen for their technical ability, leadership and teamwork.
