Tshwane hosts Guinness World Record attempt
The City of Tshwane will today host an official Guinness World Record attempt for the most people braaing simultaneously at The World's Biggest Braai on Heritage Day, at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
The event aims to bring together 2,500 South Africans in honour of the nation’s rich heritage.
Organisers say the attempt is not just about breaking records, but a celebration of unity, community and tradition.

Golden Shield Heritage Awards celebrate South Africa’s cultural legacy
The 12th Annual Golden Shield Heritage Awards, hosted in Mpumalanga, brought together cultural leaders, heritage practitioners and community builders to celebrate South Africa’s rich and diverse heritage.

The National Heritage Council honoured outstanding individuals, organisations, and communities dedicated to preserving and promoting cultural practices.

Cape Town Cycle Challenge raises over R930,000
Cape Town’s biggest 24-hour community cycle challenge has raised over 930-thousand-rand for the VUSA Rugby and Learning Academy in Langa in the Western Cape.

The academy’s mission, which caters to children aged four to thirteen, includes academic support, early learning development, rugby coaching and psycho-social care.

The academy’s Nicky Matthews says the event has raised more than three-million-rand over the last five years

John Kani joins prestigious Oscars voting body
Renowned South African actor, director and playwright John Kani has been inducted into the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voting body.

The exclusive membership group is responsible for selecting the winners of the Academy Awards each year.
Kani joins film producer Anant Singh as one of only two South Africans, who are currently part of the Academy’s elite voting membership.
