The City of Johannesburg in partnership with the Neema Foundation for the Deaf hosted the 9th Annual Silent Walk & Run at the Marks Park Sports Club in Emmarentia, attracting more than 2000 participants.

The Deputy Minister for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Steve Letsike commemorated the international day for sign languages yesterday.
The Pan South African Language Board along with other social partners participated in observing the day, which aims to raise awareness, promote the rights of deaf individuals and preserve linguistic and cultural diversity.

The Western Cape Education Department has urged the public to prioritise matric candidates in the lead-up to the final exam period.
The 2025 National Senior Certificate exams are set to begin on the 21st of October.
Western Cape Education MEC David Maynier says matric teachers, tutors and officials have been working tirelessly to prepare the learners for the final stretch of their school journey.
Maynier says nearly 22,000 matrics attended 'Back on Track' winter school during the mid-year holidays, which took place in all eight education districts in the province.
