Gautrain and Rea Vaya are encouraging Joburg commuters to leave their cars at home and use public transport.
As part of Transport Month, they held a street activation at one of Sandton’s busiest intersections, showing how buses and trains can help the city move more efficiently.
The initiative is part of a wider plan to link Gautrain with Rea Vaya, PRASA, A Re Yeng, and minibus taxis through the Gautrain Midibus Service.
The City of Johannesburg’s new transport plan will further connect roads, buses, trains, and pedestrian routes across all seven regions.
The project aims to reduce congestion and make commuting easier while promoting public transport as a safe, reliable, and affordable option for residents.

Hope for the Future is helping matrics start their exams with full stomachs and confident minds through its annual Kings and Queens Matric Breakfast.
Now in its fifth year, the initiative provides a hearty breakfast for learners at Modderdam High School in Bonteheuwel, ensuring they have the energy to focus during their final exams.
The organisation also supports vulnerable learners with extra meals to take home, showing care that goes beyond the classroom.

Fiji has been officially validated by the World Health Organization for eliminating trachoma as a public health problem.
The disease, which is the world’s leading infectious cause of blindness, no longer poses a threat in the country.
Trachoma is also the first neglected tropical disease to be eliminated in Fiji, making it the 26th country to achieve this milestone and the 58th to eliminate at least one NTD globally.
Health officials say the success reflects years of community effort, investment in sanitation and healthcare, and strong regional collaboration.
