SA launches major drive to tackle TB on World TB Day

Gift of the Givers is partnering with the National Department of Health as part of South Africa’s End TB Campaign for 2026, launched to mark World TB Day.
The campaign aims to test around five million people and identify an estimated 250 thousand undiagnosed and untreated TB cases.
It is expected to be rolled out in high burden areas, including Qonce in the Eastern Cape, using large scale screening and community outreach to improve early detection and treatment.
Health authorities say the initiative is designed to strengthen early diagnosis efforts and reduce the spread of tuberculosis across the country.

Cape Town is set for a week of music and culture as jazz events take over the city ahead of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
A free public concert will be held at Greenmarket Square on Wednesday, featuring a lineup that includes Joneca, Zolani Mahola, Cameron Ward, Justin-Lee, Zoe Madinga, and Sheila E and The E Train. Gates open at 4pm with performances starting at 6pm.
