School Learns Sign Language to Include Deaf Seven Year Old
Teaser / Tailpiece story
Seven year old Ben O’Reilly in New Hampshire, who is deaf and has additional special needs, is now fully included in school life after a powerful act of kindness from his teachers and classmates.
In a state without a dedicated school for the deaf, teachers took the lead in learning sign language and then taught it to the rest of the learners so they could communicate more easily with Ben in class.
The shared effort has helped reduce his isolation and created a more inclusive environment where he can take part more confidently in everyday learning.
