An LLB graduate from The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton, has achieved remarkable academic success, earning 43 distinctions in 43 modules and maintaining a 91% average throughout his degree. Ulrich van Zy’s exceptional performance placed him at the top of his class, both on campus and nationally. In recognition of his academic excellence and ethical standards, he was awarded the prestigious Phatshoane Henney Honour Medal—given to South Africa’s top-performing law graduates. The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton, part of The Independent Institute of Education, celebrated his achievement as a major milestone. Campus head Kimberly McIntyre described Van Zyl as the embodiment of what happens when passion meets purpose, calling him brilliant, grounded, and determined to make a difference.

Free State Dinosaur Centre Launches

In a move to boost tourism in remote areas and broaden South Africa’s tourism offerings, Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille has officially launched a Dinosaur Interpretation Centre in the Free State. The state-of-the-art centre is located within the scenic Golden Gate Highlands National Park and is designed to offer an immersive visitor experience. It features interactive exhibitions that highlight Africa’s prehistoric past, including rare displays of ancient dinosaur embryos. Speaking at the launch, Minister de Lille emphasised the importance of developing tourism infrastructure in underexplored regions.

Shanghai's World's Biggest Legoland
Story 3
The Shanghai resort which will be hosting the world's biggest Legoland is the first in China. Lego sections include Ninjago, Lego Friends and Monkie Kid lands, in which classic Lego pieces are brought to life and supersized. The Miniland creations took 168,000 hours to complete, using more than 20 million bricks. Lego, the Danish family-owned toymaker that produces the bricks, is a familiar name in China where it has more than 400 stores.
In Shanghai, Legoland will offer another leisure space in the city for those who can afford it.
