Over 4800 young assistants deployed in schools in the Northern Cape

Over 4800 unemployed young people have been deployed by the Department of Basic Education to various schools across the Northern Cape, as part of efforts to deal with the high unemployment rate in the country.

The Initiative forms part of the national Presidential Youth Employment Initiative, which continues to be a critical instrument in addressing the socioeconomic challenges faced by the country’s youth.

The project will run for six months at a budget of 123 million rand.
