Jozi Walk Offers Three Routes

The Jozi My Jozi Walk will take place in Johannesburg on 26 July, with 5km, 8km and 15km routes starting and ending at Ellis Park Stadium.
Organisers have added live performances, community art displays on Nelson Mandela Bridge and a post-walk concert to celebrate local talent.
Participants will vote for a People's Choice Award winner and can buy Mi-Change vouchers that provide meals, shelter and support for people experiencing homelessness.
The routes are accessible for wheelchairs and prams, encouraging broad community participation.

Football And Netball Unite Alexandra

The Maisha Molepo Foundation hosted football and netball tournaments at the 3 Square Sports Centre in Alexandra on July 18 to promote social cohesion after recent community protests.
The foundation donated soccer and netball kits, funded by the National Lottery Commission.
Senior and youth teams from Alexandra and Soweto competed in the event, which encouraged community participation through sport.
In partnership with the Thami Xalasha Foundation, the organisation also distributed food parcels to elderly residents.

St Mary’s Choir Takes Top Honours

St Mary's DSG Tour Choir won first place in the Folklore category and second place in the Sacred category at the Golden Voices of Barcelona competition in Lloret de Mar, Spain.
The KwaZulu-Natal choir, made up of 51 pupils and five staff members, represented South Africa in the international event.
The results add to the school's record of success in international choir competitions, including medals at the 2023 World Choir Games.
The competition brought together youth choirs from around the world to perform and compete.

2027 AFCON Gets More Teams

CAF will expand the Africa Cup of Nations to 28 teams from the 2027 tournament, which Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will host from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
The new format will feature seven groups of four teams, with qualification matches scheduled between September 2026 and March 2027.
CAF has also doubled the winner's prize money for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations to two million US dollars, while each of the 16 qualified teams will receive at least 150 thousand dollars.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe has confirmed that the bidding process for hosting the 2028, 2032 and 2036 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is officially open:
