Alexandra sports day brings community together

The Maisha Molepo Foundation has brought the Alexandra community together through a day of football and netball, using sport to promote unity, teamwork and positive community spirit.
The event saw men, women and young people take part in friendly matches at the 3 Square Sports Centre, while soccer and netball kits were donated to support local teams and encourage greater participation in sport.
The foundation also partnered with the Thami Xalasha Foundation to donate food parcels to elderly residents, extending the day's impact beyond the sports field.

The Vaal University of Technology is celebrating its 60th Diamond Jubilee, recognising six decades of academic excellence and developing skilled graduates across South Africa.
The institution, which began as Vaal Triangle College in 1966, now serves more than 23 000 students across four faculties.
The celebrations include new laboratories, alumni events and initiatives that strengthen partnerships while looking ahead to the university's next chapter.
VUT Vice Chancellor Professor Stephen Khehla Ndlovu says the Diamond Jubilee coincides with the university achieving its first university ranking this year.

A free outdoor gym at the Emmaüs Solidarité homeless shelter in Paris is helping residents improve their health, build friendships and regain confidence.
A survey of more than 200 residents found that 80 percent reported better physical health, while 90 percent said the gym had helped them connect with other people. Some also said they had reduced their smoking since using the facility.
The initiative aims to make exercise more accessible for people experiencing homelessness and shows how physical activity can support overall wellbeing.
