Jozi My Jozi Walk Hits Johannesburg

The Jozi My Jozi Walk will take place in Johannesburg on 26 July, with 5km, 8km and 15km routes starting and ending at Ellis Park Stadium.
Organisers have added live performances, community art displays on Nelson Mandela Bridge and a post-walk concert to celebrate local talent.
Participants will vote for a People's Choice Award winner and can buy Mi-Change vouchers that provide meals, shelter and support for people experiencing homelessness.
The routes are accessible for wheelchairs and prams, encouraging broad community participation.

South Africa Fourth, Mbulelo Sixth Globally

Team South Africa placed fourth at the World Spelling Bee Championship in Shanghai, China, while 13-year-old North West learner Mbulelo Tolom finished sixth overall.
The Grade 7 learner from Klerksdorp Primary School was the youngest member of the six-person team, which competed from 13 to 20 July.
Tolom competed against learners from higher grades and schools around the world to secure his sixth-place finish.
North West Education MEC Viola Motsumi congratulated the team, saying their achievement reflects the dedication of South African learners and the opportunities created by the country’s education system to compete on the world stage.

Sweetwaters Women Boosted With Sewing Support

Women from the Sihlangule community organisation in Sweetwaters, in Eastern Cape, received two industrial sewing machines and fabric from Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality to expand their garment-making business.
Executive Mayor Princess Faku handed over the equipment on 22 July, providing the women with 300 metres each of Umbhaco and African print fabric.
The women use sewing and tailoring skills to produce clothing and textile products for local markets, creating income opportunities for their families.
The support will help Sihlangule increase production and strengthen its community enterprise.
