New Guardrail Boosts Safety at Busy Winnie Mandela Drive Corner
Story 1
The guardrail at the corner of Winnie Mandela Drive and Kingfisher Avenue has been replaced, bringing welcome relief to residents and motorists who use the busy intersection daily.
Ward 115 councillor Mark Van der Merwe described the spot as one of the busiest in the ward and praised the new safety upgrade for helping drivers navigate the area more securely, especially those coming off the freeway.
Johannesburg Roads Agency workers recently installed the guardrail, and Van der Merwe is working closely with them to continue improving road safety in the community.
Residents have long supported the repair and are encouraged to remain alert and report any road safety concerns to help keep the area safe.

Uganda’s Forex Reserves Grow by One Third
Story 2
Uganda’s foreign exchange reserves have grown by about one third over the past year, reaching $4.3 billion by June.
This amount is enough to pay for almost four months of imports, giving the country a stronger financial position.
The increase happened because Uganda earned more from selling goods like coffee and cocoa, and because foreign investors bought government bonds.
To help grow the reserves, the central bank bought $2.2 billion in foreign currency from the market between July 2024 and June 2025.
Uganda’s economy is growing thanks to investments in oil and new infrastructure, and the central bank plans to buy gold to make its reserves even stronger.
