43rd Johnson Crane Marathon set for January 25th

The 43rd annual Johnson Crane Marathon will take place outside Willowmoore Park stadium in the East of Johannesburg on the 25th of January.
Thousands of runners from across the Gauteng province are expected to take part in what has become one of South Africa’s most popular road races.
The marathon continues to attract record interest, following its biggest post-COVID event in 2025.
The race is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, strong community involvement and commitment to delivering a quality running experience.
The race programme includes a 42.2km marathon, a 21.1km half marathon, a 10km event and a 5km family fun run, catering to elite athletes, social runners, and families alike.
Cash prizes will be awarded to top finishers in the marathon, half-marathon, and 10km events, with the top prize set at R5 000.

Bloemhof crowned South Africa’s town of the year for 2025

The tranquil town of Bloemhof in the North West province, has been crowned South Africa's Town of the Year for 2025.
The title is awarded through the TV show Kwêla’s annual small-town competition, where featured towns are voted for by the public, through a nationwide public SMS poll.
The victory not only celebrates community spirit and charm but has also sparked renewed interest in the town’s property and tourism markets.
The town received a R1 million cash prize to be used for town development.
Bloemhof triumphed over eight strong competitors, including Rehoboth in Namibia, which took second place, and Wilderness in the Western Cape, a perennial favourite that came in third place.

South African Artist Ayanda Gumede has launched the country’s first-ever mobile walk-in art gallery.
The I Am Art Gallery aims to bring art to urban and remote communities, offering children and adults the opportunity to experience a gallery for the first time.
The gallery has become a space where artists from across the region are encouraged to develop their craft and to find their voice.
The artist has spent more than fifteen years shaping the South African art landscape through her work as a curator, consultant and mentor.
Gumede has also established The Art Club Foundation, which raises awareness and resources for children with disabilities.
