EW Hobbs Primary School marked International Mother Tongue Day with literature, music, and traditional dance. Learners read There Is No Price For Being Kind in English and Sepedi, enjoyed a Muslim song, and watched an isiZulu dance performance.
Deputy principal Alroy Plaatje said the activities promote cultural diversity and language appreciation, introducing learners to greetings and traditions from South Africa and abroad. The school also runs sign language and Namakwa language programmes and recognises learners who take part in extra cultural activities.
Teachers used multilingual explanations, music, poetry, and interactive methods to build reading and writing skills while strengthening cultural identity.
