Local Artists Invited to Shape New Claremont Bus Station with Public Art
Story 2
The City of Cape Town has issued an open call for local artists to submit proposals for public art at a new MyCiTi bus station in Claremont. The station forms part of a broader rollout connecting Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain to Wynberg and Claremont.
Six spaces have been identified for commissioned artworks, including a large vertical wall, a curved glass façade, a foyer entrance wall and platform-adjacent walls.
Artists must submit separate proposals for each space.
The City says the works should reflect Claremont’s cultural and natural heritage.
Submissions will be evaluated on criteria including cultural merit and public accessibility. The call is open to South African residents and artist collectives until 27 March 2026.
