13-year-old REDDAM House Umhlanga learner Sinead Samputh has won the Inspired Global Robotics Competition in the 12–13 category.
She built a low-cost health-assistant robot, Baymin, which performs basic health checks including temperature scanning and symptom screening.
The robot uses electronic components, EV3 Mindstorms, and simple language to explain things to kids.
The learner developed the project after volunteering at a community homework club where she observed limited access to basic healthcare.
