Durban SPCA Raises R222,500, Beats Fundraising Target

The Durban and Coast SPCA has raised R222,500 through its annual Kennel Sleepover, exceeding its R199,000 target.
Twenty-seven participants spent the night in the organisation’s kennels at its Springfield Park premises on 15 August to raise funds for animal welfare.
The fundraiser supports the SPCA’s work rescuing animals, providing veterinary care and sheltering stray and unwanted pets.
The event took place on International Homeless Animals Day as the SPCA marks 130 years of helping animals in the Durban region.

HerStory Festival Brings Theatre Back to QwaQwa

The HerStory International Theatre Festival has returned to QwaQwa, bringing theatre, music, poetry, dance and storytelling to the area.
The festival, led by award-winning theatre-maker Napo Masheane, celebrates women’s voices and stories through the arts.
This year’s theme is “Her Story, Her Voice, Her Stage 1956–2026”, with the festival also promoting QwaQwa as a cultural tourism destination.
