Amazing Grace School Supports Eskom Community Families

Amazing Grace Private School in Randburg has donated food, clothing, blankets, toiletries and household items to families in the Eskom community.
Learners, teachers, parents and staff collected, packed and distributed the items.
The initiative is also teaching learners about community service and supporting people facing hardship.
The school’s Fikile Thabethe says the project gives learners an opportunity to practise compassion and service in their community.

Durban SPCA Exceeds Kennel Sleepover Fundraising Target

The Durban and Coast SPCA has raised R222,500 through its annual Kennel Sleepover, exceeding its R199,000 target.
Twenty-seven participants spent the night in the organisation’s kennels at its Springfield Park premises on 15 August to raise funds for animal welfare.
The fundraiser supports the SPCA’s work rescuing animals, providing veterinary care and sheltering stray and unwanted pets.
The event took place on International Homeless Animals Day as the SPCA marks 130 years of helping animals in the Durban region.

The PPS Foundation is targeting students who do not qualify for traditional funding schemes, while helping young people prepare for employment.
The foundation provides meals, workplace training and career guidance, and works with the University of Pretoria to research youth unemployment.
It also runs a programme for Grade 11 learners that connects them with professionals and exposes them to different careers.
