The organisation made 20,000 peanut butter and jam sandwiches this year for feeding schemes across the area.
Its charity shop helps fund school feeding schemes that provide food to about 3,000 learners each month.
The foundation says it is also working towards opening a boys’ home to provide a safe space for children.

Michaelhouse Wins Reserve Bank MPC Schools Challenge

Michaelhouse in KwaZulu-Natal has won the South African Reserve Bank’s MPC Schools Challenge.
The competition requires school learners to analyse economic conditions and make monetary-policy decisions similar to those made by the Reserve Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee.
The challenge has run for 14 years and aims to give learners practical experience of how interest rates and inflation affect the economy.
Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, Lesetja Kganyago, says he was impressed with the quality of this year's submissions:

The participants attended a Nourish Our Children workshop and have joined a programme that provides ongoing nutrition support.
The organisation says it works with 240 early childhood development centres in communities that struggle to access resources.
It says the programme combines nutrition and early learning because children need adequate food to benefit from education.
