Amazing Grace Private School in Randburg has donated food, clothing, blankets, toiletries and household items to families in the Eskom community.
Learners, teachers, parents and staff collected, packed and distributed the items.
The initiative is also teaching learners about community service and supporting people facing hardship.
The school’s Fikile Thabethe says the project gives learners an opportunity to practise compassion and service in their community.

SmartStart Unites Organisations To Improve Early Learning

SmartStart has brought together organisations working in early childhood development to improve access to quality early learning in South Africa.
The two-day gathering at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park included ECD organisations, government, funders, researchers and technology providers.
They discussed ways to address challenges including nutrition, practitioner training and funding.
SmartStart says the next phase will focus on stronger partnerships and coordinated investment to expand early learning access by 2030.

Michaelhouse in KwaZulu-Natal has won the South African Reserve Bank’s MPC Schools Challenge.
The competition requires school learners to analyse economic conditions and make monetary-policy decisions similar to those made by the Reserve Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee.
The challenge has run for 14 years and aims to give learners practical experience of how interest rates and inflation affect the economy.
Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, Lesetja Kganyago, says he was especially impressed with the quality of this year's submissions:

SA Mint Launches R100,000 Martial Eagle Collection

The South African Mint has launched its 2026 Martial Eagle collection, the second release in its seven-coin Odyssey of the Sky series, with one set valued at almost R100,000.
The collection includes gold and silver coins featuring designs inspired by the martial eagle and African patterns representing the connection between people and nature.
The Mint, which has produced collectible and investment coins for more than 130 years, says the collection celebrates Africa’s birdlife and South Africa’s cultural heritage.
