Dog survives days in wilderness after dramatic waterfall fall
Teaser / Tailpiece story
A border collie named Molly has been reunited with her owner after a dramatic accident in New Zealand’s South Island mountains.
Jessica Johnston had already survived a 180 foot fall down a waterfall while hiking, but her dog went missing in the aftermath. A large scale search operation was launched after public donations quickly funded helicopter flights and rescue resources.
Using thermal imaging technology, crews eventually located Molly alive among rocks near the waterfall after several days in the wilderness.
She was airlifted to safety and later reunited with Johnston in an emotional moment.
