Cape Town singer Helen Goldberg Greenacre is back on stage after losing her voice for 19 years due to a rare spinal condition.
A trained opera performer who once toured internationally, her career stopped when she suddenly lost her ability to sing and faced serious health complications.
Years later, she was diagnosed with cervical myelopathy and underwent spinal surgery that slowly restored her strength and voice.
With specialist rehabilitation, she has now returned to singing and recently performed alongside her daughter in her first recital in two decades.
She is also developing a programme to help other performers recover their voices.
