A stunning 4.2-meter Christmas tree has been unveiled at Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria, crafted by volunteers from Crochet for Cancer to raise awareness and support for cancer survivors.
The tree is made from over a thousand handmade crochet squares, contributed by the community and stitched together on a steel frame.
Crochet for Cancer, founded in 2017, is a volunteer-driven organisation that produces handmade items such as blankets, beanies, and stoma bags for oncology patients and premature babies.
The funds raised from the Crochet-A-Thon will be donated to Cansa, while the tree's squares will be repurposed into blankets for old-age homes .

Mellon Educate’s 2025 Building Blitz concluded at two Western Cape schools, with 450 volunteers from the UK, Ireland, and South Africa transforming classrooms and launching new Literacy Hubs.
