City of Joburg provides food safety training to tuck shop owners

The City of Johannesburg's Department of Economic Development has partnered with organisations like the Wholesale & Retail SETA to provide food safety training to tuck shop owners.
This initiative, which includes workshops and programmes across all 7-regions, aims to improve business compliance, promote safe trading practices, and build on other support measures for small and informal businesses.
The city recently hosted a Food Safety Training session for spaza shop owners in Eldorado Park.
Lutzanetix CEO Simon Ndukwana, who was the hosting partner, says the initiative aims to capacitate township traders with practical skills to improve food handling and trading standards.

A stunning 4.2-meter Christmas tree has been unveiled at Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria, crafted by volunteers from Crochet for Cancer to raise awareness and support for cancer survivors.
The tree is made from over a thousand handmade crochet squares, contributed by the community and stitched together on a steel frame.
Crochet for Cancer, founded in 2017, is a volunteer-driven organisation that produces handmade items such as blankets, beanies, and stoma bags for oncology patients and premature babies.
The funds raised from the Crochet-A-Thon will be donated to Cansa, while the tree's squares will be repurposed into blankets for old-age homes .
