Better Bryanston marks one year of community impact

The Better Bryanston non-profit organisation
hosted an information and networking session at the Bryanston Country Club, in celebration of its 1 year anniversary.

The session brought together residents and supporters as the organisation reflected on its first year of operations and ongoing efforts to fight urban decay in the suburb.

The organisation was formed in 2025, to restore public spaces through cleaning, greening, and maintenance initiatives.

Better Bryanston chairperson Joyce Tshabalala commended the organisation’s leadership team for the progress made in improving key arterial routes in the suburb.

Rassie erasmus honoured with Order of Ikhamanga

The Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus was awarded the Order of Ikhamanga in Gold by President Cyril Ramaphosa in recognition of his outstanding contribution to South African rugby and nation-building.

The order recognises South African citizens who have excelled in the fields of arts, culture, literature, music, journalism and sport.

The Presidency says the Springbok coach has advanced social cohesion and has raised the nation's esteem following the 2019 and 2023 Rugby world cup victories.

President Cyril Ramaphosa bestowed National Orders on 38 South Africans and foreign nationals in Pretoria this week.
The ceremony honoured individuals who made exceptional contributions to nation-building, sports, arts, medicine, and technological innovation.

MISA initiative drives career awareness

The Motor Industry Staff Association has provided more than 1,200 Grade 11 learners across South Africa with firsthand exposure to career opportunities in the retail motor industry through its annual Child@Work initiative.

Learners were introduced to technical, artisan, administrative, and management opportunities within the sector.
MISA spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola says the programme seeks to address rising youth unemployment by promoting scarce-skills careers.

FoodForward SA receives R166,000 community impact grant

The Starbucks Foundation has awarded FoodForward SA a R166,000 grant as part of the Global Community Impact Grants programme.

FoodForward SA's Food Gardens Connect programme teaches unemployed people to grow food, supplies equipment and seedlings, provides hands-on mentoring and guarantees harvest buy-back, creating stable income and greater resilience for underserved communities.

Food Forward SA's Andy Duplessis says the
programme supports nonprofit organisations that are driving programmes that create meaningful local or regional impact, expanding on the company's ambition to contribute positively to communities.

The Starbucks Foundation and licensee partners have awarded more than $14m in Global Community Impact Grants to more than 200 nonprofit organisations across more than 60 markets, since its establishment in 2022.
