Spur restaurant gives back to Dainfern community through CANSA initiative

Fern River Spur in Dainfern has contributed to a recent CANSA Shavathon fundraiser by donating a portion of its sales to support cancer-related initiatives.
The restaurant partnered with the Dainfern Golf Estate event, where 10% of qualifying customer bills on the day were donated to the cause, raising close to R4 000.
According to restaurant management, the initiative reflects Spur’s focus on family and community support, alongside its broader national programmes such as the Smile Foundation and the Spur Full Tummy Fund.
The restaurant says it plans to continue building relationships in the Dainfern community while supporting more local fundraising efforts.

Young people in Limpopo are finding new ways to earn a living by recycling electronic waste through the E Waste for Youth Employment Programme.
The one year initiative, led by the International Labour Organization and funded by the government of Japan, is equipping youth with skills to turn discarded electronics into economic opportunities.
The programme has now reached 22 municipalities, helping participants gain training and experience in the growing green economy.
Modimolle-Mookgophong municipal councilor Hercules Louw says theywill support thi programme I hopes to get more young people involved.

Soulbent Project restores Saulsville Cemetery

The Soulbent Project NPO has led a clean-up at the Saulsville Cemetery in Atteridgeville, Pretoria, as part of efforts to restore neglected public spaces in Gauteng.
Volunteers cleared litter and illegal dumping that had affected the cemetery, which the organisation says should be treated as a sacred place for remembrance and respect.
CEO Mashudu Makhado says the aim is to restore dignity, promote environmental responsibility and build community pride.
The NPO, which also runs recycling, greening and food relief projects, says it will continue clean-up efforts in the area and is calling on communities to help protect public spaces.
