The Temba Bavuma Foundation marked its 10th anniversary by launching the Future Founders Challenge at St David's Marist Inanda Alexandra Campus in Johannesburg last week.
The Soap-to-Startup programme introduces learners to entrepreneurship and financial literacy by challenging them to develop business ideas and practical skills.
The launch also marked a new partnership aimed at expanding access to quality education for young people from disadvantaged communities.
Through its education, sport and social programmes, the foundation continues to create pathways for learners to study, build careers and reach their potential.

Red Cross Children's Hospital turns 70

Young patients at Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in Cape Town marked the hospital's 70th anniversary with a day of treats, games, entertainment and a surprise helicopter landing.
Donors, supporters and staff joined the celebration, while doctors and nurses received new equipment for their staff lounges.
For seven decades, the hospital has treated babies, children and teenagers with serious illnesses and injuries, including cancer, burns and life-threatening conditions.
The milestone highlighted the hospital's continued role in saving and improving the lives of young patients and supporting their families.

SA jumps 10 spots in Global Competitiveness

South Africa has improved its standing in the 2026 World Competitiveness Yearbook, climbing 10 places to rank 54th out of 70 economies.
The rankings, released by the Institute for Management Development and Productivity SA, point to gains in government efficiency, business confidence and infrastructure management.
Productivity SA, Juliet Mashabela, says the improvement reflects progress in several key areas of the economy.
She noted that although the country has climbed the rankings, structural challenges still need to be addressed to sustain progress:
