Campaign delivers more than 16 million meals

Millions of vulnerable South Africans will have food on their tables after Food Lover's Market's annual Hunger Month campaign in May funded more than 16 million meals.
The meals will reach children, elderly people and struggling families through FoodForward SA's network of more than 2 200 community organisations.
The campaign exceeded its target by 63 percent, showing the impact of collective action against hunger.
Food support will continue to reach nearly one million people across the country every day.

SA rises 10 spots in global rankings

South Africa has improved its standing in the 2026 World Competitiveness Yearbook, climbing 10 places to rank 54th out of 70 economies.
The rankings, released by the Institute for Management Development and Productivity SA, point to gains in government efficiency, business confidence and infrastructure management.
Productivity SA, Juliet Mashabela, says the improvement reflects progress in several key areas of the economy.
She noted that although the country has climbed the rankings, structural challenges still need to be addressed to sustain progress:

South African artist to exhibit in London

Stellenbosch artist Ros Koch will showcase her work at the National Portrait Gallery in London after her portrait, The Age of Adolescence, was selected for the Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer Portrait Award exhibition.
Her work was chosen in the final round of judging, placing her among 52 artists from around the world whose portraits will be exhibited from 25 June to 7 October 2026.
The portrait explores adolescent health and wellbeing and draws on her advocacy work supporting young people.
