Polar Bear Dive Challenge Pushes Divers Into Icy Emmarentia Waters

The Polar Bear Dive challenge takes place annually at Emmarentia Dam in Johannesburg during winter, coinciding with the Southern Hemisphere winter solstice. Divers brave near freezing water temperatures in a controlled event organised by the Normalair Underwater Club, testing endurance, focus and cold water diving skills.
Alongside the challenge, participants also carry out an underwater clean up, removing litter and debris from the dam floor in low visibility conditions.
The event combines adventure diving with environmental conservation in one organised community activity.

The University of Cape Town has once again been ranked the leading university in Africa in the latest QS World University Rankings, despite dropping to 184th position globally.
The university has remained in the world’s top 200 for the fourth consecutive year, placing it among the top two percent of institutions worldwide.
UCT recorded strong performances in areas such as academic reputation, employment outcomes and international research collaboration.
It also ranked within the global top 50 for international research networks and showed improvement in sustainability and graduate success indicators.

FJL Wells Primary Receives Chairs and School Shoes Boost

FJL Wells Primary School in Randfontein has received a donation of 200 chairs and 50 pairs of school shoes to improve learning conditions for learners.
The support was provided through a partnership between the Seventh day Adventist Students Association, Stellantis South Africa and Peugeot.
The chairs will be used for assemblies and school activities, while the shoes will assist learners in need to attend school more comfortably.
School representatives say the donation will help improve both daily learning and overall school participation.
