A new development centre has opened in Mayibuye, giving unemployed youth and school learners access to free Wi Fi, laptops and learning resources to support education and job seeking.
The facility was made possible through donations from Atlas Plant Hire and partners, and will serve as a hub for skills development and online applications.
The centre is expected to assist learners with schoolwork as well as university and bursary applications, while also providing a space for training and community support. Organisers say it is aimed at helping young people build skills and access opportunities that can improve their futures.

South Africa Leads Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 List

South Africa has produced eight of the 30 honourees on the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 Class of 2026, making it the most represented country on the list. The group spans sport, technology, entrepreneurship, aviation and the creative industries.
Among those recognised are cricketer Marco Jansen, footballer Relebohile Mofokeng, middle distance runner Prudence Sekgodiso, entrepreneur Rayhaan Survé, Botlhale AI co founder Thapelo Nthite, aviation educator Melissa Vezasie, boxing promoter Brad Dayan Norman and amapiano artist Zandile Zee Nxumalo.
Two South African born creatives also featured on global Forbes 30 Under 30 lists, Jonathan Peter in social media and Werner Bronkhorst in arts and miniature work, taking total South African recognition across the Forbes 30 Under 30 platforms to ten

UP Comrades Run Raises Funds to Unlock Graduates’ Degrees

The University of Pretoria’s 2026 Comrades Marathon fundraising effort has raised more than R90 000 to help graduates clear historical debt and access their degree certificates. The initiative forms part of the university’s Degrees Delivered campaign, which supports students who have completed their studies but are unable to graduate due to outstanding fees.
A team of UP staff, students and alumni took on the Comrades Marathon, using the event to raise awareness and funds for the cause. The money raised will go towards enabling graduates to receive their qualifications, improve employment prospects and continue their academic or professional journeys.
