The University of Pretoria’s 2026 Comrades Marathon fundraising effort has raised more than R90 000 to help graduates clear historical debt and access their degree certificates.
The initiative forms part of the university’s Degrees Delivered campaign, which supports students who have completed their studies but are unable to graduate due to outstanding fees.
A team of UP staff, students and alumni took on the Comrades Marathon, using the event to raise awareness and funds for the cause. The money raised will go towards enabling graduates to receive their qualifications, improve employment prospects and continue their academic or professional journeys.

Partnership Restores Umzilikazi Secondary School After Storm Damage

A partnership between Gagasi FM and the Hollywood Foundation is helping to rebuild Umzilikazi Secondary School in KwaZulu Natal after severe storms damaged classrooms and disrupted learning for more than 1,700 learners.
Six classrooms were destroyed and several others badly affected, forcing learners to temporarily relocate to nearby schools.
The project is delivering 15 new fully equipped classrooms and new furniture to restore a proper learning environment and bring stability back to the school.
The rebuild is also helping learners return to consistent schooling and continue their education with improved conditions.
