Gauteng 2026 online School admissions to go live tomorrow

Parents and guardians are being reminded that the Gauteng Department of Education’s 2026 Online Admissions Application period for Grades 1 and 8 will officially open tomorrow and will go live at 8am.

The admission system is only meant for parents and guardians with children going to Grade 1 or Grade 8 in 2026.
All parents need to register new profiles, as old profiles and previous login details will no longer be valid.
Parents are urged to fully complete the 5 Step Application Process.

The Startup20 Engagement Group, a pivotal body operating under South Africa’s G20 Presidency, has officially launched its local chapter with a strong call to action to elevate the role of startups and micro, small, and medium enterprises in driving inclusive economic growth.

Speaking at the inaugural Startup20 meeting held in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg, The Chairperson of South Africa’s Startup20 Engagement Group, Vuyani Jarana, underscored the importance of the platform in shaping policies that are responsive to the needs of emerging enterprises.

Jarana emphasized that startups and MSMEs are not just contributors to economic activity but are the lifeline of innovation and job creation.

Over 1,000 Marimba players set to make history in Cape Town

Over 1,000 marimba players from South Africa and Zimbabwe are gearing up to make musical history in Cape Town.

The Grand Arena at GrandWest will come alive as more than 1,000 marimba musicians unite in an official attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest marimba ensemble on Saturday the 2nd of August.

The players, ranging from eight years old to sixty-two, will be travelling from all nine provinces in South Africa, as well as from two schools in Zimbabwe.

The event, themed “United in Harmony”, is the vision of Kiara Ramklass, the founder of Marimba Jam, who has spent over a decade bringing marimba music to schools across the country.
