Gauteng Hospitals to Digitize 800 Million Patient Records

The Gauteng Health Department says plans are underway to digitise a minimum of 800 million paper-based patient records across all hospitals in the province.
This project started at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Soweto where 800-thousand patient files have been digitised so far.
The aim is to make patient records more accessible and easier to manage while ensuring compliance with privacy and security standards.
The Provincial Health's Acting Chief Operating Officer Dr Percy Selepe says this initiative should yield positive results for the Gauteng Healthcare System:

Unisa and ATNS Partner on Air Traffic Management

The University of South Africa and Air Traffic and Navigation Services have formalised a strategic partnership focused on collaboration in air traffic management.
The initiative, which began development in early 2024, aims to bridge the gap between academia and the aviation industry, with a strong focus on research, skills development, and knowledge exchange.
The agreement will also provide ATNS employees and trainees with access to Unisa’s academic resources, while supporting ATNS’s plans to establish a dedicated aviation museum to showcase its contributions to air traffic safety and aviation history.

Project Flamingo facilitated 39 life-saving breast cancer surgeries across 5 public hospitals in a single day.
This past Saturday volunteer medical teams worked together in the hospitals to provide much-needed breast cancer surgery to women.
The surgeries were performed at Groote Schuur, Tygerberg, George Regional, Livingstone, and Cecilia Makiwane Hospitals.
The non-profit organisation has now performed over 1-thousand-800 breast cancer surgeries in South Africa's public healthcare sector helping to bridge the gap in timely medical care for those in need.
