RoadToLiteracy 2026 campaign entries open

Entries have opened for the #RoadToLiteracy 2026 campaign, which will deliver one million CAPS-aligned books to under-resourced schools and educational organisations across South Africa.
The campaign, led by AVBOB in partnership with Oxford University Press Southern Africa, will distribute 2,000 mobile reading trolley libraries to qualifying primary schools and educational NPOs.
Each trolley provides books in multiple home languages, giving learners access to age-appropriate reading material and providing teachers with classroom resources that support daily literacy activities.

The Alexforbes Angel Wings has won the  Cape2Rio yacht race.
The youth team of sailors from the Cape Flats secured first place on handicap, completing the Southern Hemisphere’s longest continent-to-continent yacht race.
Sibusiso Sizatu who skippered the Alexforbes Angel Wings says the crew overcame a broken boom mid-Atlantic, demonstrating skill, resilience, and teamwork throughout the race:

Singapore Sevens start next week

South Africa has been drawn in Pool A alongside Fiji, Great Britain and Spain for the Singapore Sevens.
The Singapore Sevens will be played from 31st January 2026 to 1st February 2026 at The National Stadum.
South Africa will play Spain next Sunday in the morning.
In the women’s draw, Cape Town champions Australia will face the USA, Japan and Fiji in Pool A, while arch-rivals New Zealand will face France, Canada and Great Britain in Pool B.
