Lions International Club has donated 150 pairs of school shoes to learners at Zenzeleni Primary School in Alexandra.
The initiative supports children from unemployed or single-parent households, helping them get to school comfortably.

Applications open: 2026 Social Innovation and Disability Empowerment Awards

South African innovators actively developing practical solutions to social and disability-related challenge are invited to submit applications for the 2026 Social Innovation and Disability Empowerment Awards.
The awards offer funding, mentorship, technical support and business development assistance to help strengthen and scale early-stage ventures.
The programme focuses on innovations already being developed or tested, in areas like health, housing, rural livelihoods, energy, water and disability empowerment.
Applications close on 16 March 2026 and winners will be announced later this year.

CSA commits R1 million to support learners in academics and cricket

Cricket South Africa has established the Retshegofetse Sennelo Bursary Fund at Krugersdorp High School, committing R1 million over five years to support learners in academics and cricket.
The fund honours former learner Retshegofetse Sennelo and will assist three pupils each year through CSA’s Focus School Programme.
Lesedi Dave Kutane, Kutlwano Dibetso and Mamorena Mothusi have been named as the first 2026 recipients, each with provincial cricket experience and strong academic records.
CSA Domestic Cricket Executive Edward Khoza says the initiative aims to expand access to education and cricket opportunities, including for girls.
