The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall campus has closed 2025 on a high, reflecting on a year of growth and innovation as it prepares to become part of Emeris in Sandton. Campus head Avadhi Ghela credited the achievements to committed staff and students, noting a clear focus on building community. Key highlights included the launch of three new facilities: a moot court for law students, a collaboratorium for education students, and The Hive, an innovation hub for computer science. The additions are aimed at boosting hands-on learning and graduate employability.

More than R1 million has been raised this year to support animal welfare organisations across South Africa through the Santa Cause for Paws initiative. Run entirely by volunteers, the registered NPC helped 4,558 animals from 216 organisations benefit during the festive season. The team, made up of ordinary South Africans who work full-time jobs, raises funds through sponsorships and pledges on Facebook.Each year, animal welfare organisations apply to take part in the drive and must meet strict criteria, including submitting a wishlist of essential items. Santa Cause for Paws aims to support as many vetted organisations as possible.
