Reddam House Waterfall scores historic triple national Netball call-up

Reddam House Waterfall is celebrating a historic sporting milestone, after three of its pupils were selected for South African netball squads.
The achievement marks the first-ever triple national squad selection in the school’s history.

Goal shooter and goal attack Nicole Weyers and goal defense Imitha Mdaka along with 16-year-old goalkeeper Refentse Scott, have been rewarded for years of hard work, determination and standout performances on the court.

2 players were named in the South African U19 mixed indoor training squad, which will be narrowed down to 12 players ahead of the 2026 Indoor Netball World Cup.

Two WSU Graduates among the Top 15 finalists in MTN ENACTUS Digital Innovation Challenge

Two graduates from the Walter Sisulu University have secured 25-thousand-rand after qualifying as one of the top 15 finalists in the MTN ENACTUS Digital Innovation Challenge.

IT graduate Philasande Mathafeni and his business partner, third-year Human Resource Management student Thulisiwe Matyobeni, have created the Fair-Trade Blockchain Marketplace.

The mobile application helps small holder farmers get access to verified, secure and fairly valued digital marketplaces.
The two are now competing for a spot in the top 10 finals.

Parents have until the 29th of August to apply for 2026 School admissions

The 2026 online admissions applications for grade 1 and 8 placements opened on the 24th of July and will close on the 29th of August at midnight.

Gauteng Education MEC Matome says the Gauteng department of education has recorded over 738 thousand grade Grade 1 and Grade 8 applications through its online system

The MEC says Parents have until the 9th of September to finalise documentation.
The placement process will begin on the 16th of October with offers sent via SMS.

Virgin Atlantic extends Cape Town–London route for 2025/26 season

Virgin Atlantic will extend its Cape Town to London Heathrow seasonal route for the 2025/26 period, adding more than 17,000 seats.

The service will operate from the 13th of October to the 19th of April 2026, with overnight flight times scheduled to allow same-day connections to US destinations.

The country manager for Virgin Atlantic in South Africa, Marc Harding, says they are proud to be enhancing their Cape Town service with an extended season and additional capacity.

The announcement follows the 2024/25 season and includes plans to maintain regular flights between Cape Town and London.
