Radical Visual Arts Festival returns to Johannesburg CBD

The City of Johannesburg will once again host the city’s most radical visual arts festival, taking place from the 30th to the 31st of August.

More than 170 visual artists and designers will transform unconventional spaces across the inner-city including rooftops, alleyways, galleries and even long-forgotten buildings, turning Johannesburg’s CBD into a vibrant, living canvas.

Contra.Joburg challenges the way art is seen, heard and experienced, while making contemporary African creativity accessible to the broader audience.

SANParks to celebrate 20th Annual National Parks Week

South African National Parks will host the 20th annual SA National Parks Week from the 22nd to the 26th of September, with select parks extending free entry to the 27th and 28th of September.
The week will be launched at the Kruger National Park on the 21st of September.
Visitors can access participating SANParks national parks for free during this period.

The week is used to promote awareness and appreciation of South Africa’s natural, cultural and historical heritage as managed and preserved by SanParks.

Since its launch in 2006, SA National Parks Week has attracted an influx of day visitors to participating parks.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is set to host the "New Age Boxing Extravaganza Mega" tournament this weekend, where top boxers from Malawi will compete against local talent from the Nelson Mandela Bay region.

The tournament will feature an elimination fight between female boxers, Okuhle Mthi and Mphatso Metaudzu from Malawi.

The winner will fight for the sought-after WBF All Africa title later this year.
