Tshwane University of Technology third-year student, Bongiwe Mokhati, has earned a Wired4Women Awards nomination, recognising her academic excellence and growing impact in South Africa’s ICT sector.
With 13 categories, the awards recognise women making a real difference in the country’s tech sector.
Mokhati is nominated in the Top Tech Student category.
She aims to advance her skills in cloud computing and software development and inspire more young women to pursue careers in technology.

Kolisi Foundation marks six years in South Africa

The Kolisi Foundation is marking its sixth anniversary after six years of work in food security, education, sports, and gender-based violence prevention in South Africa.
Over this period, the foundation has invested about R60 million in food security projects, delivered eight infrastructure developments, and reached more than 4,500 children through school programmes.
To mark the milestone, it has launched The First Cup Fund, a national campaign running from 9 April to 9 May.
The initiative raises funds through hot drink purchases at selected restaurants to support nutrition, safe spaces, and early learning programmes.

China donates table tennis gear to KZN schools

Twenty-five schools in KwaZulu-Natal received table tennis equipment donated by the People’s Republic of China to support school sport programmes.
The equipment was delivered at Gardenia Primary School and distributed among participating schools for use in training and matches.

Education officials say the equipment is used to support learner participation in sport and build skills such as discipline and teamwork.
