The Move with Mike Fitness and Wellness Foundation will use its Heritage Day celebration in South Hills to promote healthy living while celebrating local culture.
The event this Saturday will include health screenings, aerobics, cultural dances and a traditional food showcase at the Southern Suburbs Recreation Centre.
It will run from 7:30 in the morning until 1pm under the theme Celebrating Our Roots, Embracing Our Future.

Smile Foundation Gives 15 Eastern Cape Children Access To Reconstructive Surgery

Fifteen children have received specialised reconstructive surgery at PE Provincial Hospital in Gqeberha through the Smile Foundation’s latest surgical programme.
The three day programme treated children with cleft conditions, burn injuries and underdeveloped ears, while also giving healthcare professionals an opportunity to strengthen their specialist skills.
One of the patients was seven year old Thandolwethu Gaceni from Kariega, who began the first stage of reconstructing his underdeveloped ear.

Mondeor High School learners have won Best Overall Presentation at a Wits University innovation challenge.
The team developed GeoPulse, a vibration detection device designed to improve safety in South Africa’s informal artisanal mining sector.
They presented the device alongside learners from some of the country’s top schools, after being challenged to explore ways of formalising the sector.
