Young Cape driver selected for F4

Fifteen-year-old Cape Town driver William Marshall has been selected for an international Formula 4 shootout in Spain.
He is one of six young drivers competing from 10 to 14 October for a fully funded season with MP Motorsport.
Marshall has already won the South African Junior Max National Championship and the Junior African Open Championship.
He will now compete in identical Formula 4 cars as he works towards a move from karting into single-seater racing.

TUT artists win national art awards

Two Tshwane University of Technology artists have received merit awards at the 2026 Sasol New Signatures Visual Arts Competition.
Inga Lokwe and Wisani Manyisi each received R10,000 for their artworks at the awards in Pretoria.
Lokwe’s glass artwork explores Xhosa culture and women’s roles, while Manyisi’s painting reflects on his family’s experience of war and displacement in Mozambique.
Another TUT master’s student and four alumni were also selected as finalists in the competition.

Advanced cancer treatment now closer home

Cancer patients in central South Africa can now access advanced radiotherapy closer to home.
Life Rosepark Hospital in Bloemfontein is the first private hospital in the region to offer deep inspiration breath hold treatment, which helps protect the heart and lungs during breast cancer treatment.
The hospital has also treated its first prostate cancer patient.
