Public invited to help track African Striped Weasel
Story 1
University of Pretoria researcher Kyle Smith is calling on the public to help locate the elusive African Striped Weasel.
The small black-and-white weasel, measuring 27 to 31 centimetres, is often mistaken for a striped polecat and is found across South Africa and much of sub-Saharan Africa.
Smith has received strong public response since launching the project in August, with many sightings helping raise awareness of the species.
Citizen scientists can submit sightings with photos, locations, and observations via WhatsApp or social media through @africanstripedweaselproject or @kylezoologist.
The project aims to expand research on this under-studied species and contribute to future conservation efforts in South Africa and beyond.

Olympic boxing rivalry ends with heartfelt reunion
Story 3
Nearly 35 years after the controversial 1988 Olympic boxing final, South Korea’s Park Si-hun handed the gold medal he was awarded to American Roy Jones Jr.
Park had originally won the match 3-2 in Seoul, even though most observers felt Jones dominated the fight.
Rumours of judge corruption and alleged bribery surrounded the result, though investigations found no solid evidence.
Haunted by guilt, Park retired soon after, while Jones built a legendary career across four weight classes.
Recently, Park surprised Jones in Florida, giving him the medal and saying it rightfully belonged to him.
The reunion has touched fans worldwide, showing the lasting power of integrity, sportsmanship and making amends even decades later.
