Eskom simplifies solar system compliance
Story 1
Eskom has simplified the compliance and registration process for customers who generate their own electricity through small-scale embedded generation systems, such as rooftop solar panels.
The power utility’s residential customers may now have their systems signed off by a Department of Labour-registered person, instead of requiring approval from an Engineering Council of South Africa-registered professional.
Eskom says this simplified process will save customers over nine-thousand-rand in connection costs for a typical 16 kilovolt-amps rooftop solar system.
