South African and Swedish Foundations Award R25 Million for Collaborative Research

The South African NRF and Swedish STINT have granted over R25 million to the South Africa Sweden University Forum (SASUF) to launch the SASUF+ phase.
The programme brings together 37 South African and Swedish universities to tackle societal challenges across themes such as sustainable health, green transition, migration, urbanisation, and social justice.
Wits University and Mangosuthu University of Technology will lead the communications work package, coordinating outreach, digital engagement, and dissemination of research findings.
The SASUF+ phase, running from August 2025 to August 2028, aims to deepen collaboration, promote innovation, and maximise the impact of joint research initiatives.
