Tshwane Steps Up Water Leak Repairs with ThibaDiLeaks Campaign
Story 1
The City of Tshwane has launched the ThibaDiLeaks campaign to tackle water losses in Region 6, including areas such as Mamelodi, Nellmapius, and Moreletapark.
Recent efforts have repaired dozens of pipe leaks, fixed meters, cleared sewer blockages, and removed illegal connections.
Two dedicated repair teams will continue work in key wards, supported by pressure-monitoring sensors, valve replacements, and soft-start protocols to prevent future bursts.
A new digital dashboard tracks water consumption and losses, helping the city manage resources more efficiently and align with national water conservation goals.

Petrol and Diesel Prices Expected to Drop in November
Story 2
South African motorists can expect significant fuel price decreases from November, with 95 Unleaded petrol forecast to fall by 58 cents and 93 Unleaded by 62 cents, according to unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF).
Diesel prices are also expected to drop by around 33–34 cents. If predictions hold, petrol could reach its lowest level since February 2022, while diesel will be 65 cents cheaper than in January.
The decreases are driven by softer international oil prices and a stronger rand, providing welcome relief for drivers ahead of the festive season.

WhatsApp to Boost Privacy with New Username Feature
Story 3
WhatsApp is set to roll out a major privacy upgrade in early 2026. The messaging platform will soon allow users to connect using unique usernames instead of phone numbers.
The new feature, currently being tested on Android and iOS, aims to give users more control over their privacy while keeping the app’s familiar feel.
Phone numbers will still be used for account verification, but usernames will become the main way to find and chat with others.
The change is expected to make communication safer and more private for WhatsApp’s two billion users worldwide.
