Gauteng Police Service honours 27 Officers for exceptional service

Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni and his deputy, Major General Fred Kekana, honoured 27 officers for their bravery, loyalty and long service to the police force during an event held at Paterson Park in Norwood Johannesburg.

The ceremony honoured members who have served 40, 30, 20 and 10 years in the force, celebrating the dedication and commitment that has defined their careers.

The ceremony highlighted renewed national confidence as load shedding continues to ease.

Eskom says the generation fleet continues to improve under its generation recovery plan.

Gauteng warns of major traffic disruptions ahead of G20 Summit

Gauteng residents can expect extensive traffic disruptions this weekend as authorities roll out joint traffic operations for the G20 Leaders’ Summit which will take place at the Nasrec Expo Centre.

The Gauteng Provincial Joint Operations Centre confirmed that enforced closures will take place across Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni.

The operations will run from 7.30am to 10am and from 5pm to 8pm on the 22nd and 23rd of November.

Road closures will affect key national and provincial routes, including the N1, N12, N3, R21 and the R24.
Areas that will impacted in Johannesburg include Sandton, Fourways, Rosebank, parts of Roodepoort, Westcliff and Parkview.

Grayston drive will be fully closed on the 22nd of November.
The Golden Highway, next to the expo centre, will be completely closed off to traffic between Rand Show Road and Soweto Highway.
