17th Dusi Finish for Sandton Paddler

Sandton’s Mohammed Patel has once again shown remarkable endurance, completing his 17th Dusi Canoe Marathon.This is one of South Africa’s toughest river races. The 75th edition of the event spans roughly 120km over three days, from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. Patel finished 11th in the 45–49 age category and placed 12th overall in the K1 division, completing the race in 12 hours and 40 minutes. Having started paddling at university in 2004 and entering his first Dusi in 2005, Patel has now completed 17 of the 19 races he has entered.

Oosthuizen says the climb was not only a personal achievement, but also a platform to highlight social issues affecting South Africa, including wildlife crime and exploitation of vulnerable people. She adds that the experience strengthened her commitment to advocacy work, with plans for future campaigns and community initiatives already underway.

BTS marked their long-awaited return with a free, public concert in Seoul. While only 22,000 attendees held the “Golden Ticket,” organizers expected the event to draw as many as 260,000 people, making it the largest public concert in South Korean history.The one-hour performance coincided with the release of BTS’ fifth full-length studio album, *“Arirang”*. Named after a traditional Korean folk song often regarded as the country’s unofficial national anthem, the album explores themes of identity, belonging, and personal growth.
This comeback also sets the stage for the band’s upcoming world tour, spanning 34 regions from April to March 2027.
