From a Single Dance to a Thriving Company
Teaser / Tailpiece story
What began 30 years ago as a single performance has grown into Natyapriya, a dance company with over 70 performers. Named from the Sanskrit words Natya (dance) and priya (lover). Natyapriya started in 1995 after an International Women’s Day celebration in Nor rich. From small private shows to weekly classes and annual performances, the company now uses classical dance to explore both Indian mythology and modern themes such as domestic violence and immigrant journeys—blending tradition with contemporary storytelling.
