Michael Mount Waldorf School came together to make a difference, collecting more than 230 bags of clothing for a cause close to the community’s heart. Learners, teachers, and families joined forces in a spirit of generosity, proving the power of collective action. The initiative, organised in partnership with the non-profit organisation Clothes to Good, encouraged donations of clothing and everyday items. The highlight of the day saw learners arrange the contributions on the school field into the shape of a heart—a striking symbol of unity, kindness, and the impact of small acts of giving.

Karabo Poppy used her experience as a graphic designer and street artist to create a children’s book that blends story, pictures and culture. She illustrated Hugged by the Night, her first children’s book written by Harold Green III, turning Green's poem into comforting images for young readers.Poppy chose colors and designed the idea of night to help soothe children, and Chronicle Books invited her to join the project, giving her freedom to create the visuals in her own style.

South African architect Mangaliso Mtetwa scored a historic double victory at the 2026 German Design Awards for his modular seating system, the Ubuntu Curve. Inspired by the spirit of Ubuntu, the eco-friendly design promotes connection while honoring sustainability. The sculptural bench earned top honours in Excellent Product Design. This achievement puts South African innovation firmly on the global stage.More than just a seat, the Ubuntu Curve is a modular bench system that embodies the South African philosophy “I am because we are”. It is specifically crafted for public spaces and fosters community and inclusivity through its convergent form while adhering to circular design principles.
