Young engineers Hackathon empowers learners across SA

Fifty-five learners from underserved schools across South Africa are taking part in the Young Engineers Movement Hackathon in Johannesburg this week.
The five-day programme runs from today until Friday.
Learners will work in teams to design and build technology prototypes that address challenges in their communities before presenting their ideas to judges on Exhibition Day.
The initiative aims to develop coding, engineering and problem-solving skills while exposing young people to future careers in technology and innovation.

The Field Band Project is celebrating seven years of empowering youth through music education and personal development in the Northern Cape town.
The programme teaches learners to play instruments such as the piano, trumpet and drums while building teamwork, discipline and confidence.

Gqeberha to host 33rd SPAR Women's Challenge

The 33rd SPAR Women's Challenge will take place in Gqeberha on 26 September.
Organisers have increased the entry cap to 6 000 participants after last year's race sold out.
The event will again feature 5km and 10km races and has expanded participation opportunities for differently abled athletes.
Race shirts and goodie bags will, for the first time, be produced by the Association for the Physically Disabled in Nelson Mandela Bay.
